RECOVERY

The importance of recovery cannot be overstated, as it offers individuals the opportunity to heal, rebuild, and rediscover hope in the midst of life’s struggles, whether they be addiction, emotional wounds, or past trauma. The Gathering Church was founded with this very principle at its core, emerging from a desire to create a community where people could find restoration through faith, support, and practical recovery programs. Rooted in the belief that God brings healing to all areas of life, our church’s commitment to recovery is reflected in its ongoing programs, including support groups, counseling, and recovery ministries. These programs are designed to provide a safe and compassionate environment where individuals can experience transformation, reclaim their identity in Christ, and walk through recovery alongside a loving, supportive community. By prioritizing recovery, The Gathering Church not only helps individuals overcome their past, but also empowers them to live out their purpose with renewed strength and hope.
We desire to help people who have been hurt by life's circumstances bringing restoration to people and families.

Restore Outreach's program is Celebrate Recovery (CR). This recovery program addresses all types of habits, hurts and hang-ups.

We meet Monday nights at The Gathering Church in the Social Hall. Doors open at 5pm with a meal at 5:30pm and classes at 6:30pm.

Restore emphasizes personal responsibility, encouraging individuals to face the consequences of their choices rather than playing the blame game or adopting a victim mentality.
It empowers people to take ownership of their actions and focus on what they can change, acknowledging that while we cannot control everything that happens to us,
we can control how we respond. By walking alongside families throughout the year, Restore helps break the cycle of generational hurts, habits, and hang-ups,
offering a path to healing not just for individuals, but for future generations as well.

Celebrate Recovery, which mirrors the structure of traditional AA programs, offers a comprehensive, faith-based approach to healing.
The Celebrate Recovery: The Journey Begins (books 1-4) introduce life principles grounded in the Beatitudes, while The Journey Continues (books 5-8)
guide those in continued recovery.

Restore offers a shared meal at 5:30 p.m., followed by separate men’s and women’s classes at 6:30 p.m.
There are also children’s and teen groups, such as Next Generation (ages 0-5), Celebration Place (ages 6-10), and The Landing (ages 11-17),
ensuring that families can participate together.

In addition, Restore partners with various community organizations to offer a wide range of support services, including GED programs, adult literacy, parenting classes, financial budgeting, job skills training, and more. With seasonal initiatives like Back to School drives, Christmas savings, and food boxes, Restore is committed to meeting both the practical and spiritual needs of individuals and families in the community. Through these programs, Restore fosters lasting transformation and a path toward wholeness for all who participate.

FOUND8TION 12/12

Founded by Donnie and Sharon Woolsey, Found8tion 12/12 is a Christ-centered recovery community dedicated to guiding individuals on a deeper spiritual journey through the 12 steps. Our mission is to equip people with the tools they need to build a solid foundation for lasting change and growth. As a faith-based 12-step program, we welcome everyone to share their experiences, strengths, hopes, emotions, and challenges in a supportive environment. Found8tion fosters encouragement and accountability as participants work through the 12 steps and corresponding 12 principles together in a group setting.

Founded nine years ago at The Gathering Church, Found8tion has positively impacted hundreds of lives, helping individuals grow in their recovery and adopt a healthier way of life. We meet every Thursday night from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the Social Hall at The Gathering Church. During these meetings, participants work the steps, study the principles, and have the opportunity to share. We invite individuals who have maintained at least six months of sobriety to sign up to chair meetings, where they lead discussions on a specific topic, allowing everyone to share for two to three minutes. Twice a month, guest speakers—many from other recovery groups in the tri-state area—share their personal journeys, and once or twice a year, we invite renowned speakers from outside the area to inspire and motivate our community.

To support our members' recovery, Found8tion provides up to 30 Recovery Bibles each year to help deepen their understanding of the 12 steps. We also distribute approximately 100 12-step workbooks annually and give away an average of 1,000 sobriety bracelets to celebrate milestones in recovery. Through these resources and our ongoing support, we continue to help individuals grow stronger in their sobriety and live healthier, more fulfilling lives.
